What this tool does

Papiral scans each page of your PDF for text content. Pages with fewer characters than your chosen threshold are treated as blank and removed from the output. This is ideal for cleaning up scanned documents, removing separator pages, or trimming empty pages inserted by scanners.

Problems it solves

  • Removing blank separator pages from scanned document batches
  • Cleaning up PDFs exported from word processors with trailing blank pages
  • Trimming empty pages inserted by scanners or fax software
  • Reducing file size by eliminating unnecessary blank pages

Example

Remove blank pages from 30 scanned intake forms

Frequently asked questions

Will pages with only images be removed?

Yes — blank detection is text-only. Pages that contain images but no text characters will be treated as blank if the text threshold is not met.

What threshold should I use?

The default of 10 characters works well for most cases. Raise it to remove pages with very little text (e.g. just a page number). Lower it to 0 to only remove completely empty pages.
